Human–elephant conflict and loss of habitat remain two of the greatest threats to elephant, & wildlife, survival across Africa.
The AI Gate project is an innovative conservation technology initiative designed to help create safer wildlife corridors and reduce conflict between elephants and people.
Using advanced camera systems and artificial intelligence, the technology identifies individual elephants and can trigger automated access points — allowing elephants access or to move safely through designated areas while protecting farmland, infrastructure and communities.
This forward-thinking system aims to:
- Reduce human–elephant conflict
- Enable access to land previously unavailable to elephants
- Enable safer wildlife movement
- Support corridor creation between reserves
- Integrate technology into practical conservation
- Provide scalable solutions across Africa
